Private Catamaran Charter in Cabo
The catamaran is yours. The route is yours. The menu, the music, the schedule — all yours. We build it around you.
For the days that deserve their own boat
A private catamaran charter in Cabo San Lucas means it is just your group on board, no strangers, no fixed schedule, no compromises. Whether the occasion is a wedding ceremony with El Arco as your backdrop, a milestone birthday, a corporate retreat that does not feel like a corporate retreat, an anniversary, a surprise proposal, or a full-day exclusive sail through the Sea of Cortez, we customize every single detail to match what you have in mind. Route, food, drinks, music, decor, timing, add-ons, your call.
Sail Baja Adventures operates two 43-foot catamarans out of Marina Cabo San Lucas Dock F: the Zig Zag (Belize 43 Fountaine Pajot, up to 23 guests) for larger group celebrations and weddings, and the Blue Lagoon (up to 23 guests with 4 private cabins and 4 bathrooms) for intimate gatherings and full-day private experiences. Both vessels come with bilingual crew, a sailor-chef who prepares fresh, delicious food on board, and a premium open bar as standard equipment, and a premium open bar as standard equipment. The customization begins the moment you contact us, and we genuinely mean it when we say we will build the day around you.
We have hosted weddings on board where the bride walked down the deck to a string quartet and exchanged vows with El Arco framed behind her. We have run corporate retreats where the C-suite team finally had a real conversation because nobody could check email at sea. We have set up surprise birthday parties where the guest of honor thought they were going on a quiet snorkel tour and discovered a custom cake, a custom playlist, and twenty of their closest friends. We have hosted long full-day charters where the group anchored at quiet coves for swimming, lunch on deck, and a slow sunset return, never sharing the boat with strangers, never rushing. Every charter is different. That is the point.
Perfect For
Six kinds of days we know how to make great
Most of our private charters fall into one of six general categories, though we are always inventing new ones. Here are the occasions we book most often, and what makes each different.
Weddings, vow renewals and elopements
A catamaran wedding in Cabo San Lucas is not your average beach ceremony. We coordinate with local officiants, photographers, florists and catering vendors to handle every logistical detail, then position the vessel for the perfect ceremony backdrop, El Arco at golden hour is the most popular choice, but we have done plenty of ceremonies with Land’s End or the open Pacific behind the couple instead. After the ceremony, the catamaran becomes the reception venue: cocktail hour on deck, dinner under the stars, music and dancing on the way back to the marina. We recommend booking wedding charters at least 8 to 12 weeks in advance.
Milestone birthdays and anniversaries
Big numbers deserve big settings. We have hosted 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th and even 80th birthday charters, plus countless anniversaries from first to fiftieth. Custom cake delivery to the marina, champagne toast in open water at sunset, a curated playlist that runs from the guest of honor’s college years through their favorite recent songs, all of that is part of what we coordinate. For surprise parties, we work directly with the person organizing it and keep the actual guest of honor entirely in the dark until they board.
Corporate retreats and team-building
The kind of company offsite that people actually want to attend. We have hosted leadership team retreats, sales celebration events, board strategy sessions and incentive trips for high-performing employees. A catamaran is the ideal environment for team-building precisely because nobody can hide behind a screen, the conversations that happen on deck are different from the conversations that happen in conference rooms. We can arrange custom branding, presentation set-ups for short briefings, and catering that ranges from casual to formal. Half-day and full-day options available.
Surprise proposals and honeymoons
Cabo is the proposal capital of Baja, and we have had the privilege of being part of dozens of them. Tell us the plan in advance, the timing, the song, the ring location, whether you want a photographer ready to capture the moment from a discreet angle, and we will execute it exactly as you envision. For honeymoons, we offer a quieter version of the experience: smaller crew presence, custom menus, and the entire catamaran for just the two of you, sometimes for a half-day, sometimes for a full-day Sea of Cortez escape.
Family reunions and multi-generational trips
The challenge with multi-generational family vacations is finding an activity that grandparents, kids and teenagers all actually enjoy at the same time. A private catamaran charter solves that, there is enough deck space and variety of things to do that nobody gets bored. The grandparents can sit in the shade and enjoy the view, the kids can swim and snorkel, the teens can take over the Bluetooth speaker, and everybody eats together under the stars at sunset. We provide kid-sized life jackets and snorkel gear, custom menus for picky eaters and dietary restrictions, and the kind of calm pace that keeps the whole family happy.
Pick Your Vessel
Zig Zag or Blue Lagoon?
The right catamaran for your charter depends on your group size and the kind of experience you want to create. Both vessels are 43 feet, both come with the same premium service standards, and both depart from Marina Cabo San Lucas Dock F. The differences come down to capacity, configuration and overall experience style.
The Zig Zag is a Belize 43 Fountaine Pajot built for group celebrations. It accommodates up to 23 guests with plenty of deck space, comfortable trampoline nets at the bow, generous shaded seating, and a bar setup designed to serve a crowd. This is the right choice for weddings with extended family, large corporate groups, milestone birthday parties, and any celebration where the social energy benefits from having more people on board. The Blue Lagoon is the right choice for smaller, more intimate gatherings, up to 23 guests, and for any charter that benefits from a more private-yacht-style experience. With 4 private cabins (each with its own bathroom) and a full functional kitchen, the Blue Lagoon offers a level of onboard comfort, privacy, and full meal service that simply is not available on most day-charter catamarans in Los Cabos. Day charters on the Blue Lagoon feel less like a group tour and more like having your own yacht for the day. See the Blue Lagoon specs and amenities →
What You Can Customize
Pretty much everything
The standard tours we run have set routes and timings because that’s what works for the average guest, but a private charter is your day, and almost every variable is on the table. Here is what we typically customize for charter clients.
Route and stops. El Arco and Land’s End are the obvious must-sees, but the rest is up to you. Snorkel at one of three reef sites, anchor for swimming, sail farther up the coast to less-visited beaches, or do a pure cruise without stops.
Departure time and duration. Standard options are 3-hour, half-day (4-5 hours), full-day (6-8 hours), and sunset-specific. We can also do early morning departures for breakfast charters or extended late-afternoon dinners.
Menu and catering. Our sailor-chef prepares the standard tour menu, and that is delicious, but for charters we can scale up to fully custom catering. Sushi platters from a local sushi chef, full seafood paella prepared at sea, taco bars with three or four protein options, vegetarian and vegan menus, gluten-free options, kid-friendly menus, or formal dinners with wine pairings.
Bar and cocktails. Premium open bar is standard. Upgrades include champagne packages (Veuve, Dom, Krug on request), custom signature cocktails for events (we have done a lot of these for weddings), mezcal flights with curated bottles, top-shelf tequila tastings, and full sommelier-paired wine service for dinner charters.
Onboard activities. Trolling lines are typically out on every Sail Baja Adventures charter, so if a Pacific fish hits the line you get the show. For guests who want to actively fish, we can have rods set up and ready, reel in your catch, take the photos, and we’ll handle the rest. Snorkel stops at Pelican Rock, Santa Maria Bay, or Chileno Bay can be built into any itinerary, paddle boards are available on board, and swim breaks at quiet anchorages are a standard inclusion. Just tell us how active you’d like the day to be.
Music and entertainment. Your playlist via Bluetooth, hired DJ on board, mariachi greeting at the marina, live acoustic guitar during dinner, or full silence if that’s what you want. We coordinate the music to match the moment.
Decor and setup. Floral arrangements, custom signage, ceremony arches and chuppahs for weddings, branded materials for corporate events, themed decorations for milestone birthdays. We work with several local vendors and can recommend the right one for your style and budget.
Add-ons. Professional photographer, videographer, drone operator, officiant for ceremonies, hair and makeup artist arriving at the marina, onboard masseuse, sommelier, additional crew for very large events. Everything is à la carte and quoted separately.
Private Charter FAQs
What can I customize on a Private Charter?
Pretty much everything. Route and stops, departure time, duration, food menu (custom catering available), drinks, music, decorations, and add-ons like a photographer or custom cocktails. We have hosted weddings, milestone birthdays, corporate retreats, and surprise proposals. Just tell us what you need.
How many guests can join a Private Charter?
The Zig Zag accommodates up to 23 guests for a lively group experience. The Blue Lagoon hosts up to 23 guests aswell with 4 private cabins and 4 bathrooms, ideal for intimate gatherings or full-day exclusive sails where comfort and privacy matter. We recommend the right vessel for your group and occasion.
Can you host a wedding or ceremony on the catamaran?
Yes and it is spectacular. Imagine exchanging vows with El Arco as your backdrop and the Pacific stretching out behind you. We coordinate every detail to make it seamless. Reach out early to discuss availability for your date.
How far in advance should I book a Private Charter?
We recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (December through April) and for large events. The more lead time, the better we can prepare every detail. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible, just contact us directly.
Is alcohol included in a Private Charter?
Yes, a premium open bar is standard on all charters. Custom cocktail menus, champagne packages, and specialty drinks can be arranged for an additional fee. Just let us know what you have in mind.
Can we do a sunset private charter?
Absolutely a private sunset charter is one of our most requested options. You get the full catamaran to yourselves, a route past all the iconic Cabo landmarks, golden hour light, and a dedicated crew focused entirely on your group. Highly recommended.
Can we fish during a private charter?
Yes. Trolling lines are typically out throughout the sail on every charter, so a Pacific catch on the way to your anchor point is not unusual. If you would like to actively fish during the charter, we can have rods set up and ready; just let us know when you book. Fishing pairs beautifully with snorkel stops, lunch at anchor, and a sunset return.
