Why Los Cabos Is Called the Marlin Capital of the World
Los Cabos sits at the exact point where the cold currents of the Pacific meet the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez. That collision is not just a nice fact for a postcard, it is the reason the fishing here is some of the best on the planet. Striped marlin are the headline act, especially from November through March when they show up in numbers that make even seasoned captains grin. But marlin is only part of the story. Roosterfish patrol the beaches, sailfish put on one of the most acrobatic shows in sportfishing, and inshore species like grouper and snapper keep things interesting even on a slower day out.
What makes Los Cabos different from a lot of other fishing destinations is how close the action is. You do not need to run two hours offshore to find fish. Productive water often starts a short sail from Marina Cabo San Lucas, which means more time with a line in the water and less time getting there. Fishing From a Private Catamaran, Not a Shared Panga
Most fishing trips in Cabo put you on a small panga with strangers, a fixed schedule, and gear that has seen better days. Sail Baja Adventures does it differently. We normally run trolling lines the entire time we are underway, so it is common to hook something on the way out to the anchor point even before the trip officially starts. If you want to fish actively, just tell us when you book and we will have rods rigged and ready. Fishing pairs naturally with everything else Los Cabos does well: a snorkel stop at Pelican Rock, lunch prepared fresh onboard by our sailor-chef, and a slow sail back with the coastline lit up gold.
